3 Seafarers Abducted In Rivers Oil Terminal
The attack happened on Saturday around some 135 miles south-west of the Brass Oil Terminal in Rivers on Sunday.
The identities of the abducted crew members were not known as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhie, reports of their whereabouts remain sketchy as the Nigerian Navy in conjunction with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) intensifies search and rescue operations.
The attack is one of many that happens around the area with red flag raised over the safety of seafarers in the region.
Kidnapping for ransom is common in Nigeria, with foreigners and high-profile Nigerians frequently targeted.
There has been a slight increase in hostage-takings off the coast of Nigeria, according to a 2018 report by the watchdog Oceans Beyond Piracy .
Mariners have been advised to exercise extreme caution when transiting through the area.
