Nigerian singer, Praiz, was arrested and later released by the Nigerian police on December 19, 2017 for alleged over speeding, and acting unruly to the Police officers who ensured he was detained.

Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Chike Oti, gave comments concerning the alleged arrest of the R&B singer, by members of the force on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, which the musician also responded to on Instagram.

Here are 3 times Praiz might have lied against the police, based on the 'unofficial' statement he released on Instagram.

1. On his Instagram page, Praiz says he is a calm person- "Anyone that truly knows me well knows I am an easy going, non problematic, happy and co-operative individual"

But for the police, the man they arrested does not seem calm.

The Police PRO said that the X3m Music artiste was stopped by some police officers due to his excessive speed while driving on the Lekki-Epe Highway, and that he was only stopped by the security personnel to find out why he was driving so fast.

However, as soon as he stopped and they began questioning him, the police claim he immediately brought out his camera and began filming them while shouting at the top of his voice at them.

2. Praiz claims he was arrested because he was wearing a gold chain and had gown beard. "People who are heading home after a failed interview, people going home after a night shift, people on their way to get their daily bread but get harassed by people who are the force because of reasons best known to them or maybe because you are a young boy wearing a gold chain or have a beard," he wrote.

But the police spokesman said that when Praiz started shouting, the police officers asked him to follow them to the station to explain what led to his outburst.

3. He also attempted to put his arrest at the feet of the SARS, when he said "Though I won’t deny the existence of great people in the police force that are ready to listen , I still stand by my opinion which is popular among the youth and more #ENDSARS".

To that statement, the Police PRO also stressed that even though  this is coming at a time of an increased tension between the public and the police, over the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Praiz was not taken to the police station by men of the special robbery unit.
