They did not disappear as they were told they would, neither did the security operatives go blind when they caught them.

In shock and disbelief, they were arrested, handcuffed and move into the waiting van.

Michael Eyen, 30, Aina Adebasha, 35 and Olatunji Sunday 25 were arrested at Orisumbare after attempting to dismantle a new transformer installed in the area.

They had hoped that the efficacy of their charms would enable them carry out the operation successfully without hindrance.

However, unknown to them, the residents had engaged the services of a local vigilante  group who also knew their antics and eventually neutralized their charms.

They were arrested and handed over to the police at Ayobo division.

It was gathered that the suspects expressed shock and surprise on how the charms failed to work despite the fact that they had used it in other operations.

They were charged before the Ogba Magistrates court on Wednesday with attempted theft of a transformer belonging to Ikeja Electric and illegal procurement of Criminal arms under the Criminal Code.

They pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate,  M.I. Dan-Oni granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till June 19, 2017.
