The opposition Peoples Democratic Party has revealed the name of the man who will be representing President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 Presidential Debate.

The Publicity Secretary of PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan confirmed to newsmen that he’s sure Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will be representing Buhari.

He spoke with reporters on the party's preparations for the polls.

Ologbondiyan noted that since President Buhari has nothing to debate with anyone, the APC is trying to replace him with the Vice President.

The presidential debate would hold on January 19, 2019 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Since the Nigerian Election Debate Group and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria announced schedules for the 2019 presidential election debates, opposition party had doubted the willingness of Buhari to attend.

Similarly, PDP has said that the tenure of the Police Inspector-General Ibrahim Idris should not be extended.

The party, which claimed that the police boss is expected to retire in January next year, said he deserves a blissful retirement after January.

Ologbondiyan said PDP does not trust the Inspector-General because the police have been biased towards the opposition under his tenure.

He said the police deserves a new IGP who will be politically neutral instead of dancing to the tune of the Federal Government.

Ologbondiyan said the police has taken sides in some partisan issues in many neutrality and capacity for fairness.

He added: “We know that the tenure of the IGP expires in January, next year. We don’t want the government to extend his tenure. We want neutrality during the election.”
