2019: Why Saraki And Ekweremadu Cannot Attend PDP Rally Together
You may have wondered why the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, have not been seen together at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) zonal rallies.
Saraki, who is the Director-General of Atiku Presidential Campaign Council has been travelling across the country with Atiku, while Ekweremadu stayed back in Abuja to preside over the red chamber.
It was gathered that there was need for one of the presiding officers to always be in Abuja in case the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Senators try to forcefully takeover the assembly in their absence.
Having tried and failed several times, the ruling party has now resolve to use all means necessary to reclaim the leadership of the National Assembly, which they lost to Saraki after he returned to the PDP.
To this end, the PDP raised another alarm, over a fresh plot to use the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Security Services, DSS, to forcefully remove Senate President, Bukola Saraki, from office.
In a statement issued by Kola Ologbondiyan, its National Publicity Secretary, in Abuja, the plot against Saraki, “which is akin to the last invasion of the National Assembly by anti-democratic forces, is to scuttle the success being recorded by the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, in its consultations and winning campaigns across the nation, ahead of the 2019 general elections.”
The PDP, said that it is privy to clandestine meetings by the Buhari Presidency, and the Leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which it observed has not been able to constitute a Presidential Campaign Organisation, but keen to derail the PDP Presidential Campaign, by going against Senator Saraki.
The statement added: “Part of the plot is to use the Police and the DSS, to fabricate spurious charges against Senator Saraki, distract him, and destabilise the PDP Presidential Campaign, a scheme the PDP described as dead on arrival, as Nigerians are solidly behind the PDP, in the mission to rescue the nation from the misrule of the APC.”
