Baring any last minutes political recalculation, Nigeria's main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have chosen former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose as its Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Quoting a top member of the party, Online media newspaper, Sahara Reporter said the Atiku/Fayose ticket is the best option the party has for now.

The party has already zoned the presidency to the North and is reportedly considering zoning it to the North-eest.

Although Atiku is of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but current political wrangling within the ruling party could make the Adamawa born politician consider the offer if it is eventually given to him.

Fayose is being considered for the VP slot to entice and compensate the South-west voters.

Last week, the PDP shortlisted Atiku among other APC Chieftains that would be wooed back home.
