2019 Presidency: APC Group Withdraws Support For Buhari
Ahead of the 2019 Presidential election, a pro Buhari group, the All Progressive Congress – Vanguard, (APC-V) said it has withdrawn support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election.
The group says it would be difficult for the President to win re-election in 2019, stressing that Buhari’s performance in office has rendered him unfit.
The group urged him to give way to another candidate from the North.
The National Coordinator of APC-Vanguard, Olusegun Bamgbose, who disclosed on Thursday, lamented that Buhari’s administration has been hijacked by a cabal.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has failed Nigeria. Nigerian is now more divided under Buhari. The President has been treating the issue of the murderous Fulani herdsmen with kid gloves.
"The anti graft war is nothing to write home about. He has failed to perform and should simply go home and support another northerner in 2019. The APC would lose the presidency if they field Buhari in 2019. It is the same manner we warned the PDP not to field Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
“Many Nigerians who backed Buhari in 2015 have left him. On what basis will anybody market Buhari for 2019? What are you going to tell Nigerians to vote Buhari again for? It will be very difficult for Buhari because Nigerians are wiser and can only tolerate the President till 2019.”
On whether his group’s decision was not based on lack of patronage from the President, Bamgbose said, "I’m not looking for any appointment from Buhari.
"Remember we toured many states with our resources campaigning for Buhari in 2015; now, we have nothing to go back and show the people.
"What we want is a better life for Nigerians and a President who will unite this country. So far, it is obvious that Buhari has failed Nigerians.”
