The new faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC), named Reformed-APC have met with the Peoples Democratic Party members, and other parties to sign a 'defeat memorandum' for the 2019 general elections.

The sole agenda of the meeting, which was held in Shehu Musa Centre, Abuja on Monday is to produce a presidential candidate capable of winning the election and enthrone a new government in 2019.

R-APC members were led to the meeting by their leader Buba Galadima while PDP's National Chairman, Uche Secondus led the party's delegation.

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senator Dino melaye and Akwa Ibom State Governor; Emmanuel Udom were part of the PDP delegation.

Other parties in the grand alliance include National Conscience Party (NCP), National Unity Party (NUP), Action Alliance (AA), Better Nigeria Progressive Party (BNPP) amongst others.

A former senator, Ben Obi, who briefed journalists, said the parties gathered to sign a memorandum for a coalition that would take over power in 2019 and ensure the defeat of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC.

He described the 2019 election as a battle between light and darkness, saying the coalition is the light that has come to rescue Nigeria.

He said the signing of the memorandum is a signal to the ruling APC and the international community that they are ready to take over power in 2019.
