The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a 154-member presidential campaign council for the 2019 election.

At the inauguration of the council on Thursday at Legacy House, Maitama, the party’s presidential campaign office, were chieftains of the party.

Inaugurating the council, National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, said it is expected to steer the affairs of the campaigns of PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki is the Director General of the council.

Other members of the council include: the PDP vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogora; Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu; a former president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, his former deputy, Namadi Sambo, the PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Walid Jubrin.

Saraki said the council would work hard to win the election.

Atiku will slug it out with President Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on February 16, 2019.

Campaign for the elections were lifted on November 18.
