Fresh reports indicate that the eleven governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are scheming to endorse a former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido as the party’s 2019 Presidential candidate.

The governors during a meeting at the Delta State Governor’s Executive Chamber in Asaba on Sunday made the endorsement.

The governors were in the state for a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

The governor namely, Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Henry Dickson (Bayelsa), Benedict Ayade (Cross River), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta State), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo (Gombe), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), and Darius Ishaku (Taraba) together with the party's NWC led by the national chairman, Uche Secondus, were in Asaba for close door meeting to take a stand on the 2019 elections and examine the state of the nation.

During the meeting, the party’s NWC presented a roadmap, which it believed will defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2019.

After the presentation of the roadmap, it was gathered that the governors and the NWC collectively agreed to dump the former Vice President Abubakar Atiku and form alliance with Lamido.

In choosing the former Jigawa governor over Atiku, the governors described their former colleague as a true, steadfast and loyal party man.

It was learnt that the governors viewed former Atiku's moves as desperate and over ambitious.

According to them, a true, faithful and loyal party man who has the interest of the party at heart will not turn into a political prostitute as the over-ambitious former Vice President Atiku has done.

However, Lamido is currently facing multi-corruption charges slammed on him by the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)..
