2019: Ondo South Constituents Reject APC Senatorial Candidate
The senator representing Ondo south senatorial district, Yele Omogunwa is currently struggling to get the nod of his constituents for his return to the upper legislative chamber.
Despite his preference by the APC National Working Committee who offered him an automatic ticket, Omogunwa's political feet appears to be shaky.
Staging a protest against his candidature on Thursday, party members threatened to ruin the chance of APC winning any election in the area if the ticket is not withdrawn from him.
According to the leader of the protestants, the party will suffer a terrible defeat if Omogunwa is fielded in 2019.
“Senator Omogunwa is identified with incompetence and his candidature becomes unsellable because we deserve better representation in Ondo South which lays the golden egg for our country.
"Yele has become analogue and the best thing to do is to replace him with a more competent fellow if the party must win in 2019 before it is too late."
Also, another member of the group, Toyese Adepetu described the senator as political misfit for the region.
"The fact is incontrovertible that our senatorial district is suffering from misrepresentation at present in the red chamber.
"Yele Omogunwa, the man positioned to represent us is nothing but political misfit. Under his watch ,our district suffered untold and unbearable hardship including the extant infamous electricity blackout ravaging the land."
Thousands of the protestants from the six local governments displayed placards with various inscriptions: "Ondo South Rejects Yele Omogunwa; ” Ondo South says No To Imposition, ” Ondo South APC says No To Yele Omogunwa”, "Ondo South LGA says No To Yele”.
Meanwhile, Yele has described the protesters as a sponsored group, noting that the region has witnessed unprecedented development through his good representation in the senate.
