The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Imo State, Uche Nwosu on Friday, January 25th officially flagged off his campaign in Owerri, the state capital.

Nwosu, who is a son in-law and the preferred candidate of the state governor, Rochas Okorocha, dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the decision of the party’s National Working Committee to recognise Hope Uzodimma as its governorship candidate.

Although Governor Okorocha was not at the event held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, the rally which was attended by other dignitaries.

At the rally, Nwosu said he was sure of victory because of the kind of support he was enjoying from the people of the state.

He said the injustice done to him and others at the APC made them to look for an alternative platform to realise their ambition.

He said, “We shall continue the good works of the state governor, Rochas Okorocha.

“We have enough resources and they will be used for the welfare of the people.

Nwosu also announced that the party had adopted President Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate.

He assured the President of One million votes in the state.

About 10 political parties belonging to the state chapter of the Inter Party Advisory Council were announced at the venue to have endorsed Nwosu.

The rally was attended by representatives of different groups.

Okorocha's absence at the rally came as a surprise to many.

The governor had last Saturday in the full glare of the media in a rally organised by the APC women wing to mobilise support for the re-election of President Buhari and the APC candidate asked the electorates who gathered to shore up support for the APC in the state, to vote for Nwosu.
