2019: Makarfi To Challenge Atiku For PDP's Presidential Ticket
Former Governor of Kaduna State Senator Ahmed Makarfi has officially joined the race to contest Nigeria’s presidency in 2019.
The immediate past Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared his intention for the nation’s highest office at a press briefing in Kaduna on Sunday.
Makarfi said his decision followed ”wide consultations with party men and women as well as other major stakeholders.”
The two time Senator said he was now ready to pick the PDP nomination form ahead of the 2019 presidential election.
With this development, the former governor has joined ex-vice-president Atiku Abubakar, another former governor (Jigawa State) Sule Lamido, both members of PDP, and President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the front runners for the position.
