2019: Kwankwaso, Others Set To Pull Out Of APC
Baring any last minute change of strategy, some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are set to dump the party.
The leaders have already formed another splinter group within the party called Reformed APC.
The aggrieved leaders are said to be uncomfortable with the slow pace of talks and progress by the Kawu Baraje-led new Peoples Democratic Party’s (nPDP) in the APC.
Led by former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and other top members of the APC, especially at the National Assembly, the new group may formally announce its departure from the ruling party by Friday.
20 APC senators and many members of House of Representatives may be defecting.
It was gathered that the new group has already set up an interim committee with representatives from other parties including the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and other smaller parties to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with main opposition group, PDP.
Recall that Kwankwaso was in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital last week, to inform Governor Ayo Fayose about his resolve to return to PDP.
He also met with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on the same issue. You like this article? Don’t forget to share it!
