The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed the total number of workers it would need for 2019 general elections.

INEC said it would need almost a million workers, but added that most of its staff would be ad-hoc.

Presently, INEC's staff strength is 16,000.

INEC’s Commissioner in charge of Voter Education and Publicity, Solomon Soyebi, who revealed the number, said all the workers that would be used for the election would be insured.

Soyebi stated, “We conduct our elections with many officials. Next year, it may be close to a million people.

“What I want to assure you is that most of the work we do is done by a variety of staff most of whom are ad hoc. INEC has a staff strength of over 16, 000.”
