Gunmen have shot and killed  the Vice Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ozugbe Ward in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nuhu Musa.

This is the second cold blooded murder in a week.

On Friday, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Herbert Nwaneji was murdered by some suspected assassins.

The APC chairman and another party member, Nurudeen Abdulkarim were killed in the early hours of Monday while they were observing Subhi prayers at the Community Mosque in Ibozogi village.

According to an eye witness, the gunmen stormed the sleepy Egbura community firing sporadically and causing pandemonium.

He added that upon approaching the community mosque, the gunmen started firing at worshipers, disclosing that many other victims sustained various degrees of injuries.

He noted that Musa and Abdulkarim died on the spot, while other victims were rushed to neighbouring towns for medical attention.

When contacted, the spokesman of the state Police Command, William Aya who neither denied nor confirmed the incident, said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.

Political assassinations have rocked Nigeria’s electoral season ahead of 2019 general elections.

At least 10 politicians have been killed mysteriously across the country since the beginning of the electioneering process.
