President Muhammadu Buhari’s staunch supporter, Abdulmajid Danbilki Commanda, on Monday in Kano raised alarm that the authorities of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria have banned him from using their facilities to project Buhari’s 2019 re-election campaign.

Commanda, who spoke to newsmen in Kano shortly after returning from Kaduna, claimed that he was barred from featuring in a Federal Radio Kaduna Hausa programme, Hanu da yawa, by the Zonal Director, Buhari Auwalu, who allegedly said he was acting on strict orders from above.

According to Commanda, he was also stopped from participating in another two-hour programme in another federal radio FM station, Pyramid, in Kano on account of ”an order from above.”

He alleged that some aides of President Buhari, who were not happy with the programme, have connived with FRCN officials to stop him from conducting the programme in all radio stations owned by federal government in the north.

“Those who are behind this mischievous moves have something to hide against the President,” he noted.

Commanda added that, “While attempting to feature in both Radio Nigeria, Kaduna; and its subsidiary FM station in Kano, I was told by the management that they received a text message from the Presidency that I should be barred from using the federal radio for any of my programmes.”

In his reaction to Commanda’s claims, the Zonal Director of FRCN, Kaduna, Buhari Auwalu, described it as false.

According to him, “Allegations that we are acting on the directives from the Presidency is a blatant lie, because I neither deal with the Presidency directly nor receive orders from them.

“What happened was that Abdulmajid Danbilki Commanda was due to feature in a Hausa weekly programme, Hanu Da Yawa, and we told him on arrival that he should postpone it till next week to enable us sort out some issues bordering on ethics with the NBC, as well as deal with some problems that had to do with INEC on electioneering campaign guidelines.”
