2019 Elections: Pastor Chris Okotie Wants To Be President
The Senior Pastor of Household Of God Church, Chris Okotie is returning to politics.
Okotie, during the Sunday service held on July 15 at his church, said that the dreams and aspirations of the Nigerians having been confined to oblivion, and this is inspiring him to contest in the 2019 presidential election.
He then called on both the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) and the All Progressives Congress(APC) to adopt him as their presidential candidate.
“I have re-emerged from my political hibernation to contest for the office of president in the forthcoming elections. I am fully persuaded that Nigeria needs a man who is credible, dependable and trustworthy; a God-fearing man who will be readily embroidered with compassion and love for country who will be readily accepted as a symbol of national unity.
“I believe that the benevolent grace of God has telescoped these virtues into my person, to prepare me for such at a time as this."he said.
“In sincere humility and deference to our democratic institutions, I appeal to the APC and PDP to subscribe to this ideal by adopting me as a consensus presidential candidate at the next elections" he added.
The cleric has vied for the post of the number one citizen of Nigeria, three times.
He contested for the position of president in 2003 under the Justice Party (JP) and lost to Olusegun Obansanjo.
In 2007 under the party he founded, Fresh Democratic Party (FRESH), he lost again in the election to Umaru Yar’Adua.
He tried one last time in 2011 for the presidential seat, but failed to make an impact as Goodluck Jonathan made a clean sweep at the presidential polls.
