The identities of two of the three governors that have donated N50 million each towards President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign for the 2019 Presidential election have been revealed.

The governors are Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna and Yayaha Bello of Kogi.

The identity of the third governor is still shrouded in secrecy.

Recall that governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were asked to contribute N50million each towards the campaign.

While it is unclear how many APC governors have now provided Buhari with the N50 million demanded of each of them, all the 24 governors of the party are known to have agreed to support him, at least in public.

That means that Buhari stands to rake in a quick and easy N1.2 billion from just the governors’ first cash call.

It was gathered that the issue of the contribution was discussed on Friday when President Buhari met with some of the governors of the party.

The governors are those from Kaduna, Yobe, Kogi, Niger, Plateau, Adamawa and Kano States.

During the meeting which took place at the Aso Rock Presidential villa in Abuja,, the governors assured President Buhari  of their supppor in the presidential election.

The governors excluding that of Yobe State were said to have told President Buhari that they will also need his support in their own re-election  ambitions.

They, however, expressed their displeasure with the decision of the President to appoint Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi as his DG of his campaign without consulting them.

The President denied appointing Amaechi or anybody as his campaign DG.

Buhari told the governors that their inputs would be needed before the appointment of a DG.

Addressing State House reporters later, Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-rufai, said they had no apology meeting the president over the 2019 presidential election.

El-Rufai said, “We are politicians and those of us you see here want the President to contest the 2019 election, we have no apologies for that. We believe in Mr. President we want him to continue running the country in the right direction. People can speculate about 2019 we have no apologies.”
