The senator representing Ondo central senatorial district, Tayo Alasoadura is under fire over his crashed campaign rice truck at Iworoko Market, Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.

The senator had claimed that the rice which bore it's name and picture was a Christmas gift meant for his constituency members.

But members of his constituency in the Ondo central have chided him over the statement, saying it is an insult to their collective sensibility and unfair to the victims of the accident.

"How can you tell us you are bringing Christmas rice to your constituency when the first month of the year is almost over?

"Why was the rice not shared during the festive season? It is a common knowledge that Christmas rice had already been distributed even before the Christmas week at his campaign office in Akure.

"The senator should stop telling us it is a Christmas rice because it sounds insulting to our sensibility and unfair to the people affected by the incident", said Dada Adetoyinbo.

On his part, Tope Akinyele, a Civil servant in Akure believes that if the senator had lived up to people's expectations in the last three years of his representation, he would not have been desperate to come and share rice either for Christmas or campaign purpose.

One of his party members in the constituency claimed he collected from the quarter bag of rice the senator distributed during Christmas.

"He had already given out a quarter bag of rice to each party member from which I also collected. The one they were bringing on Saturday was basically for campaign. We already discussed it in our Ward meeting and how it will be shared among our people. It is unfortunate that it turned out this way."

However, the senator through his media aide, Dayo Joseph who described the occurrence as sad, said those who attributed the rice to campaign ploy are members of opposition parties.

The rice was said to have been taken away by hoodlums who took advantage of the sad situation.
