President Muhammadu Buhari has admonished Nigerian youths not to be used as agents of destruction, violence and other social vices as the 2019 general elections draw nearer.

President Buhari made this call on Tuesday, October 23rd in Ilorin at the 34th convocation ceremony of the University of Ilorin where over 12,000 students including post graduates, PHD students among others were present.

Buhari, who was represented by the National University Commission Secretary, (NUC), Prof. Abdulrasheed Abubakar, underscored the need for Nigerian youths to remain one of the resourceful, enterprising and innovative sources in the country.

He explained that the development of the country rests only on Nigerians, hence the need for a collaborative effort to salvage the country.

The President further added that the present administration under his watch would continue to ensure a conducive atmosphere to engage the youths in productive and meaningful ventures towards sustaining the nation's economy.

Earlier in his address, the Pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council for Unilorin, Dr. Abdulla Jibril Oyekan, appealed to the Federal government to urgently increase the carrying capacity of the University of Ilorin to enable them raise their admission quota for the 2019/ 2020 admission exercise

Oyekan futher added that government cannot carry the burden of funding education alone, hence the need to intensify efforts to look for legitimate means of generating funds to complement the government's commendable efforts.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem urged the graduating students not to squander any opportunity available to them but make judicious use of it to better their lives after graduation.

He urged them to think of what they would do for their society to make it a better place.
