2019: Buhari Is Not Paying Subsidy, He Is Paying 'Delta' - Keyamo
The heat is on ahead of the 2019 general elections in Nigeria.
The spokesperson of the Buhari campaign organization, Festus Keyamo may have created a new meaning for the word 'DELTA'.
He used the word to describe a situation which he says is different from the direct subsidy paying era of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He was speaking in opposition to Atiku's campaign spokesperson, Segun Sowunmi, on Monday on Channels TV's Sunrise Daily.
Keyamo said "... the delta occurred when crude rose beyond 43 dollars per barrel.
"That was the bench mark. That it rose beyond 43, the... delta... the subsidy started. Not subsidy.
"I will tell you what happened. The delta started not subsidy, the delta. The delta started. We started to pull away from the 145 naira per litre.
"So, the landing cost as at today came to 203 to 205 naira per litre and we are still selling for 145 because the president said we cannot suffer the masses..."
Keyamo also spoke about the leverage within the NNPC's act that allows it's management team control some aspects of its funds.
"In otherwords, they (NNPC) can spend money and return the balance to the federation account by law.
"Now when FEC and they sit down at the end of the month and NEC involving PDP governors the books are open for them to say this is the difference we pay for premium.
"I told you we are not paying private people this time...", he explained.
