Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, is currently holding  a meeting with former military leader, Ibrahim Babangida at his residence in Minna, Niger State.

The former Vice President had arrived Minna Airport at about 11am and was received by the state Deputy Governor, Ahmed Ketso and the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Tanko Beji.

Thousands of his followers and party leaders in the state were also on ground to receive the former VP.

He then proceeded to the residence of the former military leader where the meeting is currently taking place.

Atiku’s visit to Babangida is part of his wide consultation ahead of his declaration for the 2019 presidency.

He is believed to have come to solicit for the goodwill of the former Head of State towards his 2019 presidential ambition.

Babangida had on Wednesday spoken about Atiku’s defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said there is nothing wrong with the former Vice President moving from one party to another, adding that the constitution allows it.

He said “Atiku is a Nigerian, he is allowed to go to any party and our constitution allows it, so, it is not new and there is nothing wrong for politician to move from one party to another.”
