Another injury has hit the Super Eagles camp ahead of their crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

The latest casualty is in-form striker, Odion Ighalo who has been ruled out for the rest of the season following the hamstring injury he picked up on Wednesday afternoon in Changchun Yatai’s 2-2 draw at home to Tianjin Quanjian.

Francis Uzoho was the first to be knocked out by injury from the crucial AFCON qualifiers against South Africa.

Ighalo has been replaced by Henry Onyekuru for the Eagles’ upcoming clashes and will now be out for five weeks ending his hope of finishing as the top scorer in the Chinese Super League this season.

The former Watford striker told afterwards that he was sad about the development but promises to return even stronger.

“Obviously sad about the injury, but it is part of the game, so I have to move on. The season has been great for me and I will just take my time and recover fully from the injury,” Ighalo said.

Ighalo has been enjoying a good run of form lately with the Super Eagles; scoring six goals in his last three outings for the national team, including a hat-trick against Libya in Uyo.
