Senator Femi Lanlehin is the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo state for 2019.

He hasn’t been in the news like the APC and PDP candidates, but he is very confident that his party has the structure to take over the government of Oyo State in the next general election.

Sen. Lanlehin addressed journalists on Wednesday, December 12 at Nest Hotel Ibadan, where he addressed several issues surrounding his political ambition and his party.

"A party called African Democratic Congress (ADC) was adopted by five major groups in the Oyo state politics. The Accord group, the Labour group, the Unity, the CNN group, and the people who were in the ADC.

"We all decided on and found it desirable that we should change this government,” he said adding that the realization that the APC was fast becoming the minority further strengthened their resolve.

"When you talk of health, education, and many other infrastructural things, all we see is a contract and nothing else.

"Today we are united, and we have a strong party called African Democratic Congress (ADC).

"We had our disagreement and issues, but thank God today we are together, we remain stronger and I can tell you that largely those issues have been settled.”

Of course, Mr Lanlehin would not escape the issue of his so-called political leader and former Oyo governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, the man many believe he left in the cold.

All he had were words of respect and honour for Ladoja whom he said remains his political father.

"Former Governor Ladoja remains my leader, remains my father, and remains my person whom I have great respect for.

"We have been in trenches together and we still remain till date. We were together in NADECO, (and) struggled together in NADECO. He was in the Senate, while I was in the House of Representatives but for one reason or the other, he is no more in the ADC.

“But I can assure you that the struggle to unseat this present administration is concerted because this government has failed totally and by the grace of God we would get there,” he assured.
