2019: Adamawa APC Dumps Atiku, Supports Buhari For Presidency
Has the Waziri of Adamawa being rejected by his own people?
The presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may have suffered a major set back.
His party, the All Progressives Congress in his state, Adamawa, has declared its support for President Muhammadu Buhari's second term in 2019.
The state party chairman, Ibrahim Bilal, during a briefing in Yola on Sunday, said his executive members took the decision to avoid losing the 2019 polls.
Bilal said the chances of Buhari returning are brighter than bringing a new candidate who may squander their goodwill.
The party’s decision to support Buhari comes few days after the former Vice President met with former President Goodluck Jonathan .
The meeting said to have been held at the instance of Atiku, who was said to be seriously considering offers made to him by a section of the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party to return to the party.
Jonathan during the meeting made it clear to Atiku that he stood a better chance to realise his ambition in the PDP.
But the former vice president was said to have insisted on some conditions to be met before he could dump the APC.
This included an assurance that he would get the party’s presidential without a contest.
