The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the number of Nigerians that will participate in this year’s general elections.

84 million Nigerians will participate in the election.

This translates to just 42 percent of Nigeria’s population which currently stands at 198 million.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja while presenting the national voter register to political parties.

He said the total number of registered voters in the country stand at 84,004,084.

The release of the list is part of the processes on INEC’s schedule for election and it is coming less than 40 days to the general elections.

The presidential election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 16, 2019, alongside National Assembly elections while the governorship election and state houses of assembly elections are scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2019.
