Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel, has assured Nigerians that he would be leading his teammates to victory when they host Cameroon in a match-day 3 fixture of the 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Nigeria welcome Cameroon to the Godswill Akpabio stadium on Friday for the first leg tie, with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m. local time. The return leg will hold in Yaounde on Monday.

Nigeria is topping Group B on 6 points and a win over Cameroon, who are currently with 4 points, will extend their lead and take them closer to Russia.

Mikel says the team is ready to go rough and tough so long it will earn the Super Eagles maximum points in Uyo.

“We all know what is at stake. We want to go to the world Cup. There is no easy way of doing that. We have to win games and we can’t play well in every game. A win is a win, we want to win on Friday, and that will give us an added advantage in the qualifiers.”

The former Chelsea midfielder said booking a ticket to the World Cup in 2018 was important for the country and the players.

He added that no matter the weather condition, rain or not, "the team is set for Cameroon come Friday".
