Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi’s poor performances in Nigeria’s pre-World Cup warm up matches is hunting him.

First, he came under severe attack from Nigerian fans and then he reportedly had an issue with captain John Obi Mikel, which he denied.

Latest report from the camp of the team, as they arrive in Russia, is that Onazi is no longer the vice-captain of the Super Eagles.

Reason is because the post of a vice-captain has been removed by the coach.

Rohr is not disposed to the appointment of a vice captain, saying the idea was counter-productive to his plans ahead of the mundial.

“Rohr has resolved to cancel the position of assistant captain in the Super Eagles as it is believed to be one of the issues militating against the team.

“Mikel remains captain and has been told to hand over the captain’s band to the most senior player on the pitch whenever he is being substituted.

"By this pronouncement, Onazi ceased to be Super Eagles’ vice-captain from now on,” a source was quoted as saying.
