Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes Nigeria's Super Eagles have an edge over Croatia and Iceland in their quest to qualify from the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The Portuguese predicted that Argentina will finish top of Group D, but struggled before giving the second place to Nigeria.

“And then in Group D, I think the little fellow (Argentina) will finish top, well, this one is going to be hard but I hope for an African team (Nigeria).”

The prediction could serve as a positive vibe for the Nigerian side who suffered defeats in their last two pre-World Cup warm up games.

Beaten by England 2-1 in Wembley on June 2, the Super Eagles also suffered a 1-0 defeat to Czech Republic on June 6.

The 2013 African champions play Croatia on June 16 in their first Russia 2018 match at the Kaliningrad Stadium, Kaliningrad.
