Argentina came from behind to beat Ecuador 3-1 with Barcelona striker Lionel Messi scoring all the 3 goals for his side on Tuesday night.

The victory mean Argentina finally book a ticket to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after almost missing out.

It was a bad start for Argentina, who needed nothing but victory to renew any hope of advancing from the group, as host Ecuador took the lead just after kickoff through Romario Ibarra.

Argentina now knew the task was tougher, but did well to draw level in the 11th minute, as captain Messi scored.

Messi put Argentina ahead 7 minutes later to take a 2-1 lead into the break.

The Barcelona striker put the game beyond Ecuador as he completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute and sealed Argentina’s place in Russia 2018.
