2018 WCQ: Leon Balogun Proud To Captain Super Eagles
While playing for the Super Eagles is an honour in itself; wearing the captain's armband comes with a deep sense of responsibility and fulfillment.
It is not then surprising as Leon Balogun is over the moon having been given the honour to wear the captain's armband in Friday's final 2018 World Cup Qualifying match against Algeria.
Balogun, who was forced to wear a protective mask in the game played in Constantine, said he was elated even as he dedicated the point earned against Algeria to Carl Ikeme.
Proud to have captained my country today and remain unbeaten at @FIFAWorldCup qualifiers. The road to Russia was an exciting and even more successful one. I dedicate this achievement to our team mate @Carl_Ikeme who started this journey with us. This one’s for you bro ??????????— Leon Balogun (@LeonBalogun) November 10, 2017
It is expected that John Obi Mikel will return to collect the captain's armband as the Eagles face Argentina on Tuesday in a friendly match in Krasnodar, Russia.
