Nigeria sprinter Yinka Ajayi could not make it to the medal zone in the final of the women’s 400m at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Ajayi finished a distant 8th with a time of 52.26 seconds inside the Carrara Stadium Track on Wednesday.

Her time was disappointing after the ran 51.81 seconds in the semifinal.

Meanwhile, Botswana’s Amantle Montsho recorded a time of 50.15 seconds to win gold, while Jamaica’s Anastasia Le-roy won silver with a time of 50.57 seconds.

Compatriot Stephenie Mcpherson finished third with a time of 50.93 seconds to win bronze.
