Nigeria powerlifter Esther Oyema has proved that what a man can do, a woman can do even better.

The country continues to put its name on the medal table following a poor start at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and Nigerian athletes are not stopping.

The latest, Esther Oyema, on Tuesday, smashed the World Record in women's Lightweight category lifting 131kg to win goal in powerlifting.

The 35-year-old surpassed her previous mark of 126kg set four years ago in Glasgow, Scotland.

It was a good feeling for Esther, who will clock 36 years on April 20.

The latest feat means Nigeria now has seven medals – three gold and four silver, and is sitting 10th on the medal table.
