2018 Budget: October Submission Date Still On Course – Aso Rock
The Nigerian government says the October 2017 date for submission of the budget to the National Assembly is still on course, as promised.
In tweets posted in response to publications that the date had been shifted, the government said the budget preparation process is in its final state.
The Cable and the Guardian online had quoted Aso Vakporoye, a Deputy Director, economic growth in the Ministry of Budget and National Planing, as saying that "the 2018 budget will be ready in January 2018 instead of the October 2017" earlier announced.
But the Federal Government faulted the report, saying it is not correct.
Please note that this report is NOT CORRECT. The Oct 2017 date is still on course, as promised. We're in final states of preparation process https://t.co/1tN9dXaUc5— Govt of Nigeria (@AsoRock) September 28, 2017
The government further emphasised that the Ministry of Budget and National Planning is in the process of finalising the 2018 budget proposals ahead of proposed October date.
“All MDAs [Ministry Department and Agencies] have gone through the required budget preparation procedures; Budget Ministry concluded required bilateral discussions 2 weeks ago,” Aso Rock added.
