Victor Moses and his Chelsea teammates have a good chance to start their title defense on a bright note having been handed a fairly 'easy' opponent in Burnley in their opening fixture for the 2017/18 Premier League season.

Burnley were roasted 3-0 in their last visit to Stamford Bridge and they recorded over 50 points less than the Blues last season.

While all these points to their weak status in terms of strength against the Blues, football is full of surprises even the Super Eagles know, having been beaten roundly at home by South Africa last weekend.

In the other opening day fixtures which comes up on Saturday August 12, 2017, last season's runners-up Tottenham Hotspur will go head to head with Newcastle at St James' Park, while Pep Guardiola's Manchester City will take on a new boy - Brighton - away.

Liverpool, who sealed a top-four place last season, will also begin their campaign on the road as they play Watford, but Arsenal and Manchester United have been handed home matches against Leicester City and West Ham United respectively.

Meanwhile, United and City will play the first Manchester derby of the season on December 9 at Old Trafford, and Jose Mourinho's men will travel to the Etihad Stadium on April 7.

One date also worth ticking on the diary is August 19. Spurs, who will be playing all their home matches at Wembley this season, will stage their first at the ground against champions Chelsea on that date.
