While the curtains will be falling on top leagues across the globe this weekend, the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League will begin on Sunday.

Teams playing away from home have begun preparations for the week 20 fixtures.

League games will take place across ten centers in Nigeria as clubs are keen to make amends while others have their focus on maintaining their momentum.

Table toppers Plateau United are on the road to Katsina while second placed MFM FC host Akwa Ibom-Akwa United in Lagos.

Attention will also be in Akure, where former Super Eagles coach Augustine Equavoen will be out to prove he is  the right man to save Sunshine Stars who will be playing host to Lobi Stars.

Seven-time Nigeria League champions, Enyimba will also be making a long trip to Sagamu where they will be facing bottom side Remo Stars.

As it stands now, this NPFL season will end on September 3, according to the latest fixtures released by the organisers.

An earlier set of fixtures has put the end of the season at July, but most clubs have complained of congested fixtures forcing the League Management Company (LMC) to readjust the original schedule.
