In 2016, America elected a new president in the person of Donald Trump.

The billionaire business mogul had since dominated US and world news headlines due to his controversial comments, policies and especially his tweets.

In 2017, he changed the world in several ways, two of which stand out.

First, President Trump invented a word although the meaning has yet to be deciphered.

In May, Trump sent out a tweet with a strange word enriching the English lexicon but also confounding his followers as every new word should.

A tweet by Trump in May read simply: “Despite the constant negative press covfefe.”

White House officials struggled with questions about what the word meant and even the dictionary company, Merriam-Webster could not figure out the meaning.

Trump left it up to the reader to figure out his meaning, with a follow-up: “Who can figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’ ??? Enjoy!”

Second, still earlier in the year before Trump was even inaugurated, he became the first President to be named after a new specie of insect – and the name surely sounds sweet.

So, a small moth with a yellowish-white coif of scales was named for then-President-elect Trump because Trump wears a similar hairstyle.

The new species of insect, got nick-named Neopalpa donaldtrumpi.

So, that was how the world got a new insect, Neopalpa donaldtrumpi, meaning an insect native to Southern California and Mexico’s Baja California, and is likely capable of flying over the proposed border wall with Mexico that was a central promise of Trump’s presidential campaign.
