2 Suicide Bombers Killed In Maiduguri
Two suicide bombers have been killed while trying to sneak into Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Police in the state confirmed the incident on Sunday.
The suicide bombers were females, the spokesman for the police in the state, Victor Isuku, told newsmen.
Isuku said that the incident occurred in the evening along Maiduguri-Gamboru highway.
One of the suicide bombers detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) strapped to her body and killed herself while the other bomber was gunned down by security operatives before she lit herself up.
There were no casualties recorded in the incident, he said.
"Preliminary information available to me indicates that two female suicide bombers tried to sneak into Maiduguri, one of them detonated the IED on her body and killed herself while the other one was gunned down.
"Police EOD teams have been deployed to the scene to sanitize the area," he added.
The foiled suicide bomb attack comes a day after the army repealed Boko Haram's attack on a community in Yobe State.
