A used commercial tricycle in Ogun state would sell for about 120,000 naira. That translates to about 333 US dollars - that's what unHappy Patrick died for.

A man has allegedly been killed by his friends because they wanted to steal and sell his sole means of income.

The two suspects; Patrick Udom from Akwa Ibom state and James Roland from Delta state reside in the same community in Imodi-Imosan.

Their victim, Happy Patrick, has seen his last days on earth.

Spokesman of the Ogun state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, says the suspects were arrested following a complaint by the elder brother of the deceased, Moses Utuede.

He said Patrick left home on Tuesday morning and did not return.

Oyeyemi explains that police officers, led by the Obalende Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Jaiye Richard, embarked on full scale investigation in order to unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance.

According to the police spokesman, investigation later revealed that the victim was last seen with Udom, who was promptly arrested and later led the police to arrest James.

Oyeyemi says the suspects have confessed to killing Patrick in order to steal his motorcycle, while his body was concealed in a sack and dumped in a nearby bush.

He listed items recovered from the suspects to include: two cutlasses, one hammer and a digger.


Meanwhile, the state police commissioner, Ahmed Iliysasu, has ordered that the case be transferred to homicide section of police unit for prosecution.
