On February 27, Joseph Kowope, a farmer in Doka village in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara was returning from his farm on his Okada when two men attacked him with sticks and made away with the motorcycle.

The two men were 27-year old Gambo Sumaila, and 20-year old Isiaku Sanni.

Kowope immediately reported the matter to the police who swung into action and had the two men apprehended.

On Thursday, they made their first court appearance at Ilorin Magistrate Court on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

The police officer in charge of the case, Abegunde Elijah, who told the court what happened, said the offences contravened sections 6(B) and 1(2) of robbery and firearms special (provision) Act Cap RII, Law of Nigeria 2004.

The Magistrate, Mohammed Aluko, adjourned the matter till April 4 for further mention and ordered that the two men be remanded in Okekura Prison, Ilorin.
