Suspected political thugs who tried blocking the convoy of Senator Dino Melaye, the lawmaker representing Kogi West in the National Assembly  may have to explain their sponsors and motives having been overpowered and arrested by security agents attached to the Senators convoy.

BOUNCE NEWS gathered that,  the  Senator had left the residence of former Governor of Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris, after a meeting of PDP leaders, before his convoy was blocked by the barricade of suspected political thugs, who had earlier laid siege for him at the house of the former governor.

Eye witness account revealed that,  the security men in the Senators convoy in a shootout overpowered the suspected political thugs, arresting two of them while others took to their heels.

The incident, which led to pandemonium, saw residents and motorists scampering for safety.

When contacted, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police Hakeem Busari said nothing of such happened in the State.

Meanwhile, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has called on the people of the state to work towards a peaceful, rancour-free and successful elections across the three Senatorial zones of state.

The Governor, who warned troublemakers plotting to cause public disorder through any form of anti-social behaviour, said law enforcement agents have been fully mobilised to deal with anyone found wanting.

He assured the people of the state and election workers of their personal safety and security and called on everyone to desist from acts capable of undermining the electoral process.
