What will a 19-year-old boy want so much money from rituals for when he should be thinking of his studies or how to improve a skill? some persons will ask.

But the times are hard and undies' thieves are on rampage. 

It is very important that every lady should be careful with where she keeps her pants. 

In Anambra State, the police said they arrested a teenage boy for allegedly stealing a woman’s underwear for ritual purposes. 

The spokesman for the Anambra command, Mr Haruna Mohammed, said in Awka that the suspect, 19, was apprehended on January 11, at Onitsha.

“On January 11, 2019, at about 6.48 a.m., Police detectives attached to Central Police Station, Onitsha, arrested the suspect of Ogbaku in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo.

“The suspect allegedly stole a female pant washed and spread on a rope at 21, Umuna Street, Odoakpu, Onitsha in Anambra,” Mohammed said.

He said that the suspect planned to sell the underwear to a yet-to-be-identified persons at 80,000 Naira for alleged ritual purposes.

He said that the underwear was recovered from the suspect as exhibit.

"Effort is being intensified to apprehend other fleeing accomplices in the incident," the police said.

The police spokesperson implored the public to be vigilant and report to the nearest police station, any suspicious person or persons in their vicinity for prompt action.

According to him, the advice is important to avert this new trend of crime in the society. 

The police is pushing for a murder charge to be attached to pant theft.
