At least 19 members of the National Youth Service Corps have been handed punishment for various offences.

Eight of the corps members in Zamfara State are to repeat the compulsory one-year national youth service, for absconding from their places of primary assignment.

11 others would have their service year extended for violating various NYSC rules and regulations.

The NYSC Coordinator in Zamfara State, Walida Isah, said soon after they departed the orientation camp, the eight corps members absconded to their states of residence.

However, she advised the members during a passing out ceremony to be entrepreneurs and not wait to be employed.

“You should not wait for white collar jobs which are very scarce; you should, as soon as you go back home, embark on various businesses.”
