17 Governors Plot To Remove Odigie-Oyegun As APC Chairman
Is the wind of change about to sweep aside the leadership of the APC?
The governors are said to be angry that Oyegun has been running the party with only seven of their colleagues.
The 17 governors believe that Oyegun is romancing seven other APC governors because he believes they are close to the President.
The aggrieved governors are expected to table their grievances at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on October 31 and pass a vote of no confidence.
The frosty relationship between the governors and Oyegun came to the fore when the state governors boycotted the meeting called by the Oyegun led National Working Committee (NWC) on Wednesday.
The meeting with the governors was held with members of the party at the National Assembly in attendance as well.
Those at the meeting were Imo State governor and chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha; his Kaduna State counterpart, Nasir el Rufai and Bauchi State governor, Mohammed Abubakar.
Others were Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Godwin Obaseki (Edo) and Abdullahi Jibrilla Bindo (Adamawa) as well as the Deputy Governors of Ondo, Kano, Kogi and Nasarawa states.
